Eddie Stapleton

Born in Middletown, New York but moved to Culpeper, Virginia at an early age.  I was raised on a second generation dairy farm. I spent all of my childhood playing sports, recreational shooting and working every day on the farm.  After graduating high school, I attended Christopher Newport University, but transferred after one year to George Mason University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1995.

It was during an internship that I transitioned and was hired as a Probation and Parole Officer.  This was my first exposure into a path at becoming an instructor. I quickly jumped at an opportunity to become a certified firearms instructor through Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.  I was involved as an adjunct instructor for my Department for five years while employed as a Probation and Parole Officer. I developed lesson plans and assisted with qualification courses through DCJS as adjunct staff.

In 1998, I was hired as a Special Agent for the Law Enforcement Bureau of the Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Department.  During my time with this Department I was selected and assigned to the Virginia Governor’s Narcotics Taskforce. Along with my normal duties as a Special Agent, I spent much of my time training with other state and federal agencies in the area of small team tactics and drug eradication.  I continued as regional DCJS instructor for my Department where I prepared, reviewed Department lesson plans and ensured that firearms training met DCJS and Department regulation.

In 2003 I was hired as a Police Officer for the Herndon Police Department.  I worked in the patrol division, mountain bike patrol and the traffic section as a Motor Officer.  I contined as a certified Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services general instructor and firearms instructor.  I conducted firearms and tactical training for the Herndon Police Department for over 15 years. I am a factory certified armorer on issued pistols, rifles and shotguns.

For the last four years, conducted professional quality open enrollment defensive firearms courses in pistol and carbine and shotgun platforms. Assisted with lesson plans, training development and participated in business development activities.

Over twenty five years work experience as an armed professional and over 20 years work experience as a certified firearms instructor. It was growing up on the farm as a kid where I was exposed to firearms at a young age.  I was taught to always be safe, respect firearms and always listen to those willing to pass on life lessons and knowledge in the field of firearms and shooting. It sparked in me a life-long interest. I am still a serious student who is enthusiastic about learning and sharing effective techniques with other serious students.
